Though Chloe had already had a lunch date of sorts, she hadn't had much of an appetite when she'd met the Doctor. Now, though, she was starving. Still feeling a little sick to her stomach, but at the same time ravenous. The Sentinel wouldn't miss her if she took a little more time, and she really didn't feel like going back to that office yet anyway. So she diverted into the burger joint.

She found an empty table beside one with a guy absorbed in his newspaper. Ordering herself a cheeseburger and a Diet Coke, she sat down and pulled out her notebook. Whenever she had too much on her mind, it helped to take notes.

But she sat there, her pen tapping away the seconds on a blank sheet of paper. Finally she blew out an explosive sigh, raking her fingers through her short blond hair. There was too much. The Doctor, Owen Harper, her meteor infection, the Sentinel... She didn't even know where to start.

This was as good as a place as any to sit down to some nice and quiet all to himself after getting the lay of the land, so to speak. Flipping to the sports section to see what was the end result in American baseball, Booth stopped. The sound of a pen drumming in a steady anxious beat was making his left eye twitch ever so slightly. Pulling the newspaper down so only his eyes peered over the top, Booth turned his head to the girl twitching the pen against the table. It was like nails on a chalkboard for the special agent who was now working his jaw back and forth.

Running through appropriate scenarios in his head to get the girl to stop, Booth had one, "Can I ask you a question?" He asked through clenched teeth as nicely as possible, settling the newspaper to rest on the table before him, hoping to distract the girl long enough to steal her pen and throw it away. “Why do women always have to order a cheeseburger with a diet coke?” It was an obvious question to ask. He wanted to know. It was like ordering a gigantic piece of pie and ( ... )

The man's interruption was timely. Anything to get Chloe out of her thoughts.

"Maybe I just like Diet Coke better," she suggested archly, closing her notebook. "Or is that impossible?" Half-turning to better face him, she caught a glimpse of his expression. Never let it be said that Chloe wasn't observant. She glanced from his face to the pen now tucked between her fingers, and back to him. "Sorry, was I bugging you?"

Booth cringed, making a sour expression, "Why would anyone like diet Coke?" It had an after taste to it had fake sugar and no real flavor besides the after taste. "Well, it's not good for you, either." Booth said with a firm nod, "It has Aspartame in it. Which is really a poison. I just don't know why anyone would put such a thing in their body. Even if it tasted good. Which," He raised a finger and wagged it, "It does not."

Blinking at the pen and then back to the girl's face, Booth waved his hand in dismissal, "Not you. Your pen." He said in light teasing, "Don't worry about it, though. It's all good." Extending a hand, he offered it in greeting and a name, "Seeley Booth."
