Who: Abe and Open*
What: An opportunity to meet Abraham about various things while he works at the library.
When: Various times before the library closes on August 14th.*
Where: Library
Rating: Nothing over a PG-13 I'd imagine
The antiquity of the library was incredibly comforting. Abe likened it to an old quilt thrown over his shoulders that smelled of paper and musk. There were modern aspects to the library as well. The cash registers and database were run in computer programs. The card catalog was off to the side as if it were a statue commemorating the old-style of finding books even though it was kept to date. Its replacement, six computers in cubicles with access to the library database as well as the internet, were the most prevalent thing one saw as they entered the front door. Very quickly after that their eyes would be drawn to aisles of tapes, cds, books on cd, dvds, and vhs tapes all for rent.
It took some walking to get to the actual books. And for those who had wandering legs or those who appreciated the classics and history upstairs would be found a vast collection of reference books, records, newspaper slides, and various other parchments that were much more delicate that the paperbacks found on the lower level.
This would be where Abe would be if he were a patron. But as he was a worker he instead pulled a cart along the lower level placing returned books back in their Dewey decimal homes and helping others local the horror, romance, and science fiction sections. But every once and a while he would have a chance, holding a reference book between his webbed fingers, to walk his way up the spiraling staircase and spend a very long time putting away one book as his hands and eyes traipsed along the mythology section to see if there was anything he hadn't read.
In the mornings he wore his respirator to combat the dryness in the air. During the afternoons he removed it as there were more people in the library and he didn't wish to look too foreign to them.
(*ooc: Each new thread by each new character can be at a completely different time of day. This gives more players an opportunity to play as I think Abe had mentioned to some that he would be there if they wanted to see him for various reasons.)
