It wasn't that Blaine didn't love his family. Honestly, he did. William was home for a few weeks, and Blaine was close with him. Their parents had seemed really excited to take their boys on this trip, a real family vacation. Of course, Blaine would never know why they had to pick a cabin in the middle of the woods in the middle of Canada, but that was fine. He had a grudge against theme park-y places now anyway, since Six Flags had cut him in the final round of auditions.

So, yeah, it wasn't that he didn't love them. It was just that the cabin was really small, much smaller than their spacious six-bedroom, four-bathroom house back in Westerville. And it was starting to feel a little stifling. So after they'd gotten settled in and had a nice family dinner, Blaine had announced that he was going exploring. They fussed for a few minutes, but Blaine had his phone and a good enough signal despite the trees, and he promised he wouldn't go far and would be back before dark.

Ah, freedom. Kurt would probably shudder at the thought of a walk through the woods in old, dirty running shoes, but it was nice. The air had cooled down a little, and there were at least eighty different kinds of birds singing all around. Warblers, Blaine thought with a grin. I'm right at home. That thought in mind, he proceeded to sing quietly to himself, or whatever woodland creatures were listening, as he walked.

Soon enough, he reached a clearing. "Oh, hey, a town," he muttered. He remembered reading about a few small towns in the surrounding areas when his parents had showed him the pamphlet. He hurried down the path and did a little twirl when he popped out on a quaint street. "Aww. Cute." It was picturesque, with small, neat shops lining the street and hardly any chain establishments that he could see. He couldn't help but think that Kurt would love this place, and damnit, he'd promised Kurt he'd keep the pining to a minimum. He squinted up at the signs of the nearest buildings. "Aternaville."
