Having left an open invitation for Castiel to join him if he wished, Byron took the carriage but ordered the steeds to take it back to the mansion. It wouldn't due to leave his housemate with an invitation and no proper transportation, after all.

Byron swept through the familiar doors of the hotel dressed in a midnight blue blouse with an elegant chest ruffle that draped fully down the front, his embroidered cloak and dark trousers-- 'casual' was rather difficult as he had only what clothing he'd brought with him and there seemed to be no seamstress in town yet.

The music that greeted him wasn't too much different from what had been played from when he first met Kimberly and suddenly his request to save a dance seemed foolish. Byron was reminded starkly that this was not his time or his culture; for some time he merely drifted through the crowd, taking it all in. A myraid of emotions sang through the air, some simply happy, some flirtatious, some nervous...it had been a long time since he'd been in the middle of such a fantastic array of psychic sensation.

Finally, he found Kimberly across the dance floor, and, just as he had on their first meeting, stepped to her side and spoke a little regally.

"Kimberly, how wonderful to see you again this evening, you look stunning." She did, although he assumed what she wore passed for casual-- it certainly didn't seem that different from what the other women were wearing.

The party was an hour in and Kimberly was making rounds as best as she could, thanking people for coming and making sure everyone had everything they needed or at least knew how to find it. There were a lot of unfamiliar faces and to them, she also introduced herself, especially glad for the people she did know who had come. Just before nine o'clock, she made good on her end of the deal to Ned, taking over the microphone at the DJ booth and called out for everyone's attention, announcing officially the grand opening of the Pie Hole and pointing out what was left of the pies Ned and Olive had brought as samplings.

Finishing her drink and tossing the cup into a trash bin, Kimberly made her way across the dance floor again, mingling with other guests she thought she might've missed or who might've come in since the last time she'd made a round. The unexpected voice beside her gave her a slight start but when she looked over to see the source, she smiled. "Hey, stranger," she said cheerfully and blushed slightly at the compliment. "Thank you, you look pretty good yourself," she pointed out.

The music didn't seem to fit what Kimberly thought Byron had meant by saving a dance for him, so she didn't bring that up just yet. It would only be a matter of time, she thought, before the DJ played another slower song that might suffice for Byron. "I'm glad you came," she said instead and there was real sincerity in her voice when she said it. She was glad; she hadn't seen him since she'd been sick and he'd gotten caught in the sun. She was just glad to see for herself in person that he really was all right.

Once, when Byron was still pretending to be a good little courtier in Kraushausen, the proper thing to do would have been to bow and kiss Kimberly's hand--he was half into a bow actually, before she complimented his evening attire.

"It is casual enough?" Byron asked, honestly curious and more than a little concerned. "And I assure you, I have not meant to be a stranger. The snow has afforded me ample time to work on the interior of our mansion." Not that he personally had been doing any of the work. Somehow the bank had contacted him to tell him there was an account with what looked to be a hood deal of his father's holdings in it. Strange town indeed. "Your invitation afforded me a chance to get out for the night, I couldn't not take it--you're feeling better I see?" As horrific as that day had been, he did remember that she had been ill as well.

A smile spread over Kimberly's lips at Byron's seemingly concerned question of whether or not he was dressed casually enough. "Casual is a state of mind, I think," she replied with a playful air of profound knowledge. The grin spread further and she winked. "No, seriously, casual is what it is to the person in question. For some people, what you're wearing is casual. For some people, destroyed jeans and a grubby ass t-shirt would be casual. Depends on the person," she said, a bit more serious.

"Oh, yeah, like a million times better, actually. I had a little help from a friend," she admitted, blushing even as she said it. She tried very hard to pretend that she wasn't coloring in the cheeks at the very thought of Connor's impromptu visit to nurse her back to health.

"It's cool that you're working on the interior; I'll really have to swing by sometime when it's done and see the finished product," she said, almost feeling a bit guilty about inviting herself. "If we don't get a chance to get together before then, I can bring my photos. I'll have a ton more, I bet, if we wait, but I'm cool with more than one visit," she added with a smile.
