Today was Kimberly's first step into real and true adulthood, even if she wasn't going to admit that to Olive. )
"Ohhhhhh. Okay. Yeah, I've been to the Pie Hole No. 2, but I didn't notice the apartments across the street. I was a little absorbed with the paint colors. You ought to see our uniforms. They're so... bright." Olive grinned and nudged Kimberly with her elbow.
Olive laughed and shook her head. "There's nothing to force, girl. You're awesome." And it seemed that whenever Ned hired awesome people, he fell in love with them. Well, maybe he fell in love with them then hired them, but Olive was just glad to know that Kimberly already had someone because otherwise she'd be a little bit nervous about her working at the Pie Hole. She wasn't as nervous about George, although if she thought about it for long enough she should have. Just like Chuck, George had a name that was better suited for a guy.
Kimberly hailed the taxi and it came to a screeching halt in front of them. Olive got in and slid all the way over so that Kimberly had plenty of room to slide in next to her. "Lulu seemed very nice, but I didn't get to talk to her much. Oh, I had a suggestion for your Valentine's Day party that I never got around to mentioning. What if you had a chocolate tasting? I bet we could get Ned to whip up a few different chocolate pies and then there could be like... blind taste tests and you could have goodie bags full of chocolates for your guests." Olive tended to babble, and most people back home had been used to it. She could talk for hours, but people who weren't as familiar with her often found it a little overwhelming at first.

The mention of the uniforms gave Kimberly pause as she climbed into the cab and slid in after Olive, giving the driver the destination. "We have uniforms?" she asked a little uneasily, the first thing coming to mind was the ridiculous uniform she'd had to don when she'd worked at a mom 'n' pop ice cream shop the college between her freshman and sophomore years of high school. She tried very hard not to shudder at the memory of the cone hats and huge, hideous nametags. "Are they at least cute?" she ventured, looking over at Olive. "Bright I can do. God awful and embarrassing, never again," she laughed. She hoped, at least, that Olive's apparent enthusiasm for said uniforms was because they weren't so bad at all.
Olive's compliment toward Kimberly made her wrinkle her nose slightly and blush. "Well thanks, you're pretty awesome yourself," she chirped back. "I'm pretty sure we're gonna be amazing roommates," she added with a big grin. Her eyes lit up when Olive made a suggestion for the party that Kimberly particularly liked. "Oh! Do you think he'd do that?! That'd be so awesome," she gushed. "I love that idea, how fun is that?!" she went on excitedly.
