Lulu walked to Mr. Bingley's house. She was excited to meet him in person and also to discuss the ball! It was fantastic for a ball to be planned without any poking or prodding on her part. And a party earlier in the week. It was as if the cosmos was apologizing for the nightmare she'd had recently.
So, dressed for summer complete with a headband holding back her long blonde hair, Lulu Spencer arrived outside of Mr. Bingley's house. "Hello!" she called, excitedly.
Bingley saw a pretty blonde who must have been Lulu. He smiled and bowed to her. "Good afternoon, Lulu. I am very pleased to make your acquaintance."
He was, of course, still wearing his normal clothes, though he suspected that modern dress might become necessary in the near future. Also a more modern haircut. Perhaps he could get Lulu's opinion.
"Thank you very much for agreeing to help with my ball. I am most obliged to you."
Lulu grinned at the bow. It had been a while since someone had bowed to her. Then again, more and more people were showing up from the future rather than the past. Not that Lulu had any preference for people from past or future. The past ones just reminded her of someone. And she couldn't help but notice that Bingley was also a redhead. Funny the amount of redheads in town.
"Good afternoon to you as well, Mr. Bingley. Or Charles. Which one do you prefer?" Some people liked one to the other. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, too! And you're totally welcome. No obligation necessary."
Bingley blinked at the question. No one ever called him Charles besides Caroline, his sister. "I scarcely know. Which is more customary in this time? For I wish to become as in keeping with the time as is possible."
He offered Lulu his arm. "Would it please you now to see the hall where the ball shall take place?"
The hall in question was panelled with a light wood, the high ceiling curved in gothic arches with slightly pointed tops. The room was empty aside from a large oak table at one end, with wooden floors. Also, the room was the size of a large high school gymnasium, though Bingley couldn't have made such a comparison.
