Moira had been wrapping Zak's gift, and had not even resorted to magick. It was an epic basket full of a LOT of movies (Lion King, Majesty’s Secret Service, Breakfast Club, Princess Bride, Monsters, Inc., Casablanca, Psycho, Star Wars, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, When Harry Met Sally, The Maltese Falcon, Die Hard, Final Destination, Scary Movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, It’s a Wonderful Life, The Notebook, Shakespeare in Love, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Moulin Rouge, Singing in the Rain) and books (Great Big Book of Mythology (kind of like a children’s story book, full of mostly greek myths), Romeo and Juliet, Lord of the Flies, Wuthering Heights).
She'd tried to avoid answering the door as much as she could, due to Lulu's placement of the mistletoe at the door. However, she was reasonably certain who was at the door. A distinct aura. Walking as quickly as she could manage, she opened the door to see Zak, in a coat and a hat. "Hello," she grinned, giving Zak a kiss and then pointing up, at the mistletoe.
He was surprised, pleasantly so, by the kiss. And then looked up, eyebrows knitted together in confusion. "I've seen those around town..what are they?" But before she answered that, he kissed her once more and pulled away, lifting the bags. "Merry Christmas?"
He paused, giving Moira her gift and placing Lulu and Clarice's on the side table. "I hope I did this sort of thing right."
Moira flushed happily, surprised by the second kiss. Probably about as surprised as Zak was by the first.
"Mistletoe," she replied, regaining her composure and tugging the youngest Adama inside, shutting the door behind him. "Lulu's put them everywhere. It's a Christmas custom that if a boy and a girl stand under the mistletoe, they have to kiss."
She smiled. "Thank you," and took the bag, leading Zak over to his wrapped gift. "Did what sort of thing right?"
"Why is that a tradition?" He was curious, and grinned. "The Christmas thing. I still don't quite understand, but liked figuring out gifts to show people my appreciation."
They stopped at the gift for him, which he wasn't expecting. At all. "What's this?"
He laughed at the show of magic, watching the remote find itself and glide right on over to Moira. Once the movie was on, Zak was quiet. Mostly quiet. It was a funny movie, so he was laughing at the appropriate parts. Moreso at particular parts. Like when the Sicilian was mocking the Man in Black and then keeled over dead.
She was as entertained with Zak's reactions to the movie as the movie itself. Leaning her head onto his shoulder as the credits rolled, she asked, looking up, "So? What did you think?"
The sheepish grin of hers had been met with an amicable grin of his own. The magic stuff still astounded him, so that would be his reaction to a lot of it.
At some point in the movie, he moved to absently hold her hand. And at the end, when she put her head on his shoulder, he couldn't help but smile a bit shyly. Wrapping his arm around her, Zak smiled more. "I liked it a lot. It had everything the grandfather promised the kid." Funny parts, exciting parts, romantic parts.
He smiled broadly and tugged her slightly, so they could be close again. "You're welcome. It's just the truth." And then he nodded, "Ball dresses are different. I have to get a nice suit, or a tux."
Moira scooched closer with the tug, shaking her head slightly. One thing she wouldn't likely believe. "Lulu told me to pick a color and apparently the rest is up to her." Moira shrugged. She trusted the younger girl with her dress. It at least would have to be longer than the last one. "A nice suit or tux, hm?" she raised her eyebrows interestedly.
Whether she believed it or not, it was what it was. Zak was positive of that. "What colour did you pick?" He asked curiously, then smiled boyishly and nodded. "I have to step up my look, to be an appropriate escort."
Picking up a swatch of fabric from the couch she turned it the exact shade of brown that Moira had given to Lulu to look for. Little did she know, Lulu had already had her dress upstairs in the closet.
"That color." Moira grinned. "I can't imagine you not being an appropriate escort, Zak." Nor that she'd mind were he not.
Clarice reluctantly poked her head into the room as the final measures of 'I Just Can't Wait to Be King' were fading away. "Um, I'm really sorry to interrupt..?" She blushed. "But, um, Lulu asked me to remind you? That you're sitting under mistletoe. She - she seemed to think you should be reminded." More blushing, and she made as if to duck back out of the room just as quickly.
Zak looked up at Clarice and grinned in hello, then started laughing. "Tactical strategist." Reminded to Moira. Lulu would have been a great one. But before Clarice could disappear, Zak spoke up to her again.
"Clarice? I, um--" He was untangling his arm from around Moira as he spoke. "I have something for you. It's really small, and I'm not sure what you wanted.." Typical boy in the gift-giving with this one. He smiled easily though and stood up, fetching the gift bag. And the one with the animal toys as well.
At least they were laughing and didn't seem annoyed. Not that Clarice had really expected them to be annoyed, she just... worried. As always. But Lulu had asked her to deliver the message in support of Zak and Moira's happiness, so how could she refuse?
She was startled when Zak rose, and startled more when it turned out he had a gift for her! And for Safina too. She was speechless, but she took the bag and peeked inside.
"Oh, this is... you didn't have to..." She pulled out a pretty pair of hair clips, her eyes darting from them to his face. "Thank you so much - oh - wait, just wait - please." Carefully replacing the bag on the table, she hurried out of the room.
Moira grinned. Lulu would be a good tactical strategist. She paused the movie as Zak got up to give Clarice her gift and then smiled at Clarice's reaction. Pulling her knees in closer, she settled her chin on them, looking over at Zak not without a certain smile on her face.
"I'm--" But he didn't get a chance to finish it, since he was busy returning the kiss.
"I'm glad." The thought complete afterward. With that, he smiled again and started laughing. "I suppose I'll have to have another talk with Severus. Explain my intentions or something."
Moira shook her head, with a bit of a bemused expression. "Oh, Goddess. With or without me? I think he's less likely to do anything if I'm there, but also more likely to search you out later. Lulu didn't give you a talk yet, did she?" She would have to tell Severus again to be nice to Zak. Though he hadn't scared him away yet.
Severus wouldn't scare him away. Neither would Lulu. He grinned boyishly and shook his head. "Not yet," No need to tell her the quick little conversation in the journals. "Wasn't she rooting for me?" Asked with a laugh. "Shouldn't she be on my side?"
Moira would have been glad to know that. She was still a little bit worried about that.
"She actually listened to me for a change?" Asked in disbelief. "Yes, she was rooting for you, but that doesn't make her any less...Lulu. She might be worse than Severus. Less scary at first thought, but I would not like to go up against her."
