I really did sympathize with plonq when he had to say goodbye to his Probe after we got the convertible. I knew that at some point down the road, I would have to do the same to Dexter.

So, plonq posted about it. We chose the Subaru.

We don't actually have it yet, though. We have a list of accessories we want them to install first (puddle lights, interior illumination kit (really nice during the dark of winter), tweeter and subwoofer kits, a rear bumper step pad) and we got some of the protection packages like rust and a clearcoat ( Read more... )

So, we test drove both the VW wagon and the Subaru Outback.

We drove the VW first, and after the test drive we were all set to buy one. It was a really nice ride, the acceleration was good, the handling was good... The only things we noted were the large B pillar, which made checking your blind spot to move left really awkward, and availability. ( Read more... )

Yesterday we test drove our "final two" choices, the Subaru Outback and the VW Golf Sportwagen TDI.

When we got home from our vacation, we found a letter from VW saying that the Eos was paid off completely. Woot! Today, while we were out enjoying the awesome weather we've been having, the VW ticked over 25000 km (a bit over 15500 miles). And considering that the Saturn is now showing its age, we're getting serious about the car search.

So, I heard that there was some kind of bug going around school, and I seem to have caught it. Whatever it is, it's pretty mild: my stomach is pretty upset at me whenever I eat anything, but I'm not spewing stuff out of one end or the other. So, yesterday was kinda fun, then really suck, and then back to fun.

We first went to the farmers' market for the first time in a few weeks. The sweet corn has arrived finally, and we picked up a dozen ears along with a few other things. The weather was gorgeous, even if the market grounds were really soggy. (The poor Mennonite girls we bought ( Read more... )
