I've been obsessing having a think about our Jacks... and have probably been putting too much thought into this... but anyways my thoughts are these
OurJack was a con-man who needed a new identity to pull off a scam (possibly the one involving Nine and Rose - possibly an earlier one).. and to achieve this he needed to steal an identity so that he could fit in with wartime London... now considering how many men died at that time I think that OurJacks' choice was more than just random... In my humble (and probably misguided) opinion despite being a con man OurJack still had the desire to be better than that, and so he decided to take the identity of a hero... maybe in the hope that he could live up to that man... and let's face it - it worked.
So when OurJack meets RealJack it's not just the shock of meeting the man, the fact that OurJack knows RealJack is gonna die or the fact that RealJack is so HOT that gets OurJack so completely - but the fact that he's come face to face with the man he's wanted to be...
And as if that's not bad enough OurJack then falls for this beautiful man - BIG TIME... and who can blame him... and there is possibly the most heartbreaking thing ever... he finds love with a man who he can't save...
OK... that's all... just had to get that waffle off my chest...
