Driving to work this morning, I was stuck behind a big white van. It had one of those magnetic awareness ribbons on the back- you know, like red for AIDS, pink for breast cancer, puzzle pieces for autism (I never understood that one. Can autistic people not do puzzles? Can they do them better than the rest of us? Do they appreciate being compared to a giant puzzle?). But this ribbon was none of those things. It had the same shape, but a checkered background, and it said "I [heart] soccer." This pissed me off probably more than it should have. But come on, soccer? Are they raising soccer awareness? Maybe soccer is in danger of being outlawed? Perhaps a child died in a tragic soccer accident?
Disgusting. Shame on you, soccer ribbon van driver! Shame!
