Brothers & Sisters 3.03 - Tug of War
I just want to say that I really, REALLY love this episode for a reason of it being very human. It doesn't have the classic Walkers disaster but the portrayal of issues presented here is amazingly real - and I'm so very much in love with it. Let me elaborate:
Sarah
I can totally relate the fear of her to quit her job and be in the world of uncertainties. I have experienced that once or twice in my life, when I want to get out from my job (not because I hate it but because I want to try something new) but worry about the not knowing of what will happen. I salute her decision in the end for getting out. She is one tough woman. I am amazed that she finally supported Tommy during the board meeting. AND, that scene of her and Nora is so beautiful ... and I love how Nora gave her constant support and told her that everything was going to be fine.
Justin
I cannot relate to Justin's experience but I think what he was facing was totally human. He experienced those horrific days in Iraq. The idea of someone thought of him as Hero while he felt guilty for not saving his friend ... gosh, I am sure that many soldiers facing the same issue. I think this plot is very powerful for Justin - and I am so glad to see him opening up to Rebecca in the end. Again, Nora's advice is so simple yet so wonderful. I love Justin more and more in here. He's cleaning up pretty nice, huh? Very handsome in that uniform
Kevin
Ah, the classic "should I" or "should I not" tell people about my choice of spouse. I also think that this plot is great. We never really see Kevin struggling with the idea of coming out. We did see him "forcing" Chad to come out in Season 1, but Kevin himself? We always accept him for what he is. I'm not happy to see him sacrificing his identity in the end to get that job (I'm sure Scotty will have something to say about that as well - but I love Scotty's reaction to it) but isn't that VERY human?! In our life, sometimes we are forced to choose between compromising or standing up to our own belief. It's not like Kevin is doing something that is out of the ordinary. That position is very important for him. It's not about gay or straight issue - sometimes people do sacrifice part of themselves to get what they want in life. BUT, I still hope that he finds it in himself, the power to say his things, and be proud of who he is.
And the core of this family ... Nora, gosh, she is just so amazing. Her scenes with Saul, Sarah, Justin. GOSH!!! I can't praise her enough for being a very wonderful mother to all of the Walkers
I don't have much thing to say about Kitty, Tommy, or Robert - because I'm not sure that this episode is about them. But I do love the interaction of Robert and Kevin (it's cute that Kevin gave solutions to the bee hives) and Tommy finally stood his ground against that sneaky Holly (but overall, I still think Tommy is a bore) Oh, and Saul, I love him. I want to see him live his life ... maybe found a very yummy 60 year old man, like Harrison Ford *g*
AND ... they are PLAYING COLDPLAY'S "LOST" IN THE END!!!!
From my point of view, a solid episode: 8/10
Plus, I think this meme is very cute. Snagged it from
sandy_s If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often or ever) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE. When you're finished, post this little paragraph in your LJ and see what your friends come up with.
