I've been a very slothful journal writer lately and I have no excuse. But if ever there was a day that deserved it's own entry, it was surely today. The reasons are forthcoming, and are numbered seven-ly.
One: I totally cut my finger while being an idiot about the slicing of the onions. There was blood, and later after dinner, there was band-aid drama.
Two: Meredith and I had a bit of a blast watching High School Musical On Ice. Admittedly, my favorite part was the screaming fan-girls behind us whose collective age might have reached 30 (there were 5 of them). Seriously, you'd think it was 1963 and they'd just caught a glimpse of Paul McCartney. They were hilarious. Honorable mentions go to the tear-away shirt, and the following of Edward Cullen's car for a mile or two
Three: Best French Onion Soup ever.
Four: Soup Night was, I think, a big, crazy, noisy hit. There were only minor injuries, and minimal damage (nothing that won't dry on it's own). Lots of yummy soup, lots of cute babies, and a dessert that tried really hard to be good. We need more chairs.
Five: I don't think we scared or scarred anyone -- no one ran from the house, at least, and that's always a good sign. Maybe we'll even be able to persuade them to come back again. I don't know -- build-your-own-pizza night?
Six: Tavian is, if possible, cuter in real life than he is in pictures. (And no, Amy, I'm not just saying that because I know you're going to read this. He really is -- like I have to convince you of that though!)
Seven -- While rocking Alex tonight, he asked me (like he always does), "Where's Cooper?" I answered (like I always do), "Cooper's going night-night." Then he looked up at me with those big blue eyes and said, "Cooper, Dad, Mom, me. Love you." My heart melted into a big gooey puddle right then and there. These boys, with their throwing and whining and teething and tempers are by far the best things I have ever had a hand in. I want to freeze-frame moments, put them in a zip-lock bag and open them in a few years when I'm ready to leave them on a street corner, 'cause I know it's going to happen. But oh my goodness, they are everything that is good in this world wrapped up into little bodies of energy and sweetness.
And now I leave you. I'm happily exhausted.
