CTS - Mini-Open Release Procedure.

So I made my appointment for the 26th. This morning I'm researching carpal tunnel syndrome. It looks like I'm already doing the conventional treatments on my own: prn ibuprophen, limiting use, wearing a splint prn during the day and at night. One site I found has an OR-Live video of a surgery. It is very interesting. I recommend checking it out--if you're not too squeemish. It shows a live surgery (that takes about 10 minutes), goes through the syndrome and then shows the anatomy on a cadaver. I think all the flying last week was significant and really tired my wrist. It's interesting that they noted in the video that vibration can increase pain.....and there's definitely plenty of that in my job, in fact one of the standard stresses of flight. It's also good to see that recovery time is only 2 weeks and they encourage full use of the hand immediately after surgery. In fact, it's an out-patient procedure with a minimal dressing that allows the full range of motion (ROM) of the hand. It's a very simple surgery, really.
