... And even though it made her feel like a character in a soppy romance novel, she still found herself thinking: damn that incredibly virile man.
And really, the thought of herself as a silly, knocked-up romance novel heroine was the greatest blow to her dignity ...
I'm kinda wary of babyfic. Whilst it can occasionally be really good, more often than not, it isn't at all, and with a couple like Laura and Bill, there really has to be something special about it to make it even slightly plausible, let alone attention-holding. This is that, to me. The original summary almost made me skip over it completely, but as I often do, I opened it up and read the first few paragraphs to try to get an idea of what it was like. And it hooked me right away. Fabulously well-written, interesting AU, and Laura is just so Laura throughout the whole thing; always our snarky, sexy, tough, self-sacrificing, rational, takes-no-shit-from-anyone Laura. Just hormonal and pregnant as she's doing it. It's got lovely interaction between Laura and Kara, and her relationship with Bill is pretty much spot on. Worth giving a chance to, most definitely.
