Meme: 30 Days of Fic - Day One
I've not done one of these 30 day meme things before, but I just came across this one and thought it might be interesting to do for BSG. And hopefully other people will do it too and I'll get a ton of new recs. (Not that I'm sneaky, or anything ...). I haven't been in the fandom for that long, so there will probably be a few here that I'll struggle with, but we'll see. And I strongly suspect that a lot of the stuff I mention will be well known and you'll have read them already, but it's always nice to mention stuff to the occasional person new to a piece of fic, isn't it?
Going to try, if I can, to only pick one fic per author, to spread the love around a bit.
Day 01. A fic with a great opening

... This was neither the time nor the place for it, but Gods she wanted him to kiss her ...
Laura/Sam is by far my favourite not-even-slightly-canon-so-much-so-that-they-only-ever-had-about-two-scenes-together pairing (as opposed to my favourite canon pairing - sure you don't even need to ask - and my favourite anti-ship - Laura/Baltar bitchfests FTW!). I love the idea of them as friends, and I think that they would have been uber hot together as a couple. There's not a whole lot of fic about the two of them, but this one is amazing.
The opening is just great. No real indication of who the people concerned are or what has been going on, but it's immediate and hot and emotional and hot and draws you into wanting to know more.
The sequels Shell Shocked and Outside the Ring are just as good. Go read them. Fall in love with Laura and Sam!
