Once again, my response to recent events in my life is "What the fuck?"
On Saturday night I was going to go to bed early, because I've been sick for the past two weeks or so with this virus that I can't seem to shake. It's getting better, but I have a feeling that if I got more sleep I would get over it a whole lot faster. Oh well, good thing I enjoy coughing a lot.
Against my better judgement, Steven and I decided to hang out with Sabrina and Eve a bit before I turned in early, so we drove out to the Appleby's by Lloyd Center, where they were having dinner with Eve's sister, who works there. By the time I got my ass in gear to drive out there, we figured that they had probably already left, but they were miraculously still haning out when we arrived. From there, we adjourned to The Basement Pub, where Sabrina and Eve had a couple of drinks and we all talked about funny jokes.
At this point, the girls had had enough to drink that they thought it would be a good idea to go to this gigantic party that was going on nearby the bar, so we stopped by, but it was not a cool place to be. Too many people (mostly guys), no music, and, to Sabrina and Eve's dismay, the keg was tapped out. So we peaced out of there.
By this time it was already getting late, but did I haul my ass home to my nice little bed? Of course not, because I am foolish, but I'm glad I am. Next on our tour was My Father's Place, a not-very-hopping bar in Southeast, where Sabrina spent the rest of her money on beer and Steven and I spent all of our cash on a piece of chocolate cream pie. Mmm mm. So just as I am seriously considering going home to sleep, who should walk in the door but Janet Weiss, amazing drummer for Sleater-Kinney and Quasi. After that my fate was sealed. She went in the room next door to play pool, where we did not follow her, because we were too cool and didn't have a good excuse. After a little bit, I went up to the bar to get some more water to soothe my aforementioned sore throat (which, by the way, is not particularly fond of cigarette smoke), and who should walk up beside me to wait his turn at the bar but Mr. Steven Malkmus himself. WTF?! He was also apparently there to play pool.
After that we had to use the excuse that Sabrina knew a guy in the pool room (see a few entries below; the fellow with the blow), and we sat around and talked to each other and random people while we watched the local rock celebrities play pool.
So, life is ridiculous.
Also, last night I saw The Unicorns play. The show was excellent and I should say more about it, but I don't have time right now. Suffice it to say that I am dead tired today due to going to bed around 2:30 am last night and getting up for work at 8:00 this morning, but it was worth it.
