Normal service has been resumed...

Well I successful moved into my new flat in Reading last night, and I feel much better now I’m in there. My new landlords are the sweetest elderly couple, who showed me where everything was and how it worked at least 3 times.

I’ve been buying things for the flat over the past few weeks and I thought I’d bought everything I might need for my first night with me. Alas I forgot essentials like a mug, plate, knife, fork, spoon and bowl. So it was an unplanned trip to Sainsbury’s last night to get some essentials to see me through till I move in properly over the weekend.

The other thing that was strange last night was not having a TV to watch. Thankfully my mobile has a radio on it so it was radio 4 all the way whilst I was pottering round. It’s good to have a space to potter in during the week, and I’m sure I shouldn’t have been so excited by a supermarket pizza for my tea. However I was so pleased to be able to cook on a Wednesday which hasn’t happened in about 9 months.

I’ve already had a visitor to my new place (hence the need to buy mugs!), as my friend Melanie works in the building next door to me in Reading and she arrived last night with a tin opener, scissors, decaf coffee and two big boxes of posh biscuits as moving in presents. I think knowing that I’ve already got a friend down here that will be coming to watch corrie has really helped me get over my worries from Monday.

So apart from waking up with the mother of all headaches this morning (appears I have a case of sinusitis according to NHS direct) and forgetting my shampoo so been unable to wash my hair. It’s all back to being good again in the land of Astoria Waldorf.

Here is an open invitation to you, if you are ever in Reading during the week and fancy a coffee and friendly chat my door is always open. I even has a spare room if you want to make a night of it.
