Excellent recap; thank you.

As I've said elsewhere, I'm actually enjoying the vid show more in retrospect (ie, reading intelligent people's recaps and reviews and commentary) than I did while it was actually going on. :-)

My frustration with the vid show, I think, shows my own failings as a viewer more than any inherent failings in the show itself. I'm not a sufficiently sophisticated viewer to get the subtleties of most vids on a first watching -- and I still have a limited palette of fandoms that awaken the squee in me. Given those factors, I think I'm likely to get less out of most vid shows than the average fan will -- not because the vids are sub-par in any way, but because it's just not statistically likely that people will be making vids that push my pre-existing buttons.

Anyway. I just wanted to be clear that I don't think my frustration with the vid show should be taken as an indicator of its success or its quality or its slashiness.

Thanks for this. laurashapiro March 8 2004, 20:08:54 UTC
I love reading well-written reviews like this one. And thanks too for your kind words about my vid.

You know, you should really watch some Farscape...*g*

Thanks so much for taking the time to write out your thoughts. :-) You are prodding/inspiring me to actually send some fb, even if I don't manage the whole report ( ... )

Summary: Bud is Ed's best friend, and wow, doesn't that suck.

That would be me ;).

Excellent recap!

Total apologies for the complete off-topic nature of this, but I didn't have your email handy, so here I am!

*points*

savvyscamp was asking about you on the armchair--i'll c/p it here:

Hi. I had a question regarding Shalott and one of her fics that I hoped could be answered here. I searched in the archives but couldn't find out:

What is going on with her Scholomance series? I just read it and I didn't know that it wasn't finished! I really enjoyed it and wanted to see what had happened to Draco and what would happen in the rest of the story. Can anyone tell me when it was written and why it hasn't been finished...and if it MAY be finished one day? Does Shalott have a lj? What else has she written besides the Weather series and the Scholomance series?

I would appreciate any and all information on this because I LOVE these stories! She is such a great writer. And her idea of the Scholomance and the prophesies!! Wow. I really hope she continues/finishes this series one day. Thanks!

Thanks -- I'm not on the list, so Yahoo isn't letting me read the post, but if you want to pass on the info, I do actually plan to finish the series, and have a good chunk of the next one written, it just happens to be going very, very, very slowly. :-)

Hurrah! wayfairer pointed me to this and I am really excited about it. That was nice of her to ask you about it; I was just going to check your lj now and then for a bit of info about it.
Good luck with your work. I understand what you meant (in post below)about not wanting to post it until your are done and satisfied, unless you wouldn't want to finish it otherwise. I can wait. I mean, I read your Weather of... series a while back and then again because I forgot I had read it (when it was discussed on Armchair). *handface* But I had never read the rest of your HP stuff. And I just did recently, so :) Good luck writing. I look forward to reading it.
And *how* do you write in so many fandoms?! ;)
