vividcon open policy discussion, just a general note

The point's been raised in the last post and I do want to remind everyone that, for good or bad, this discussion is NOT OFFICIAL -- the concom (who are really swamped right now making the vidshows and the program and getting ready for the con) are all mostly behind on the discussion and have NOT had a chance to review all the posts and comments ( Read more... )

I totally second your motion!

~ I will personallay be fully in support of the concom and their decision, whatever they will decide.

~ live journal is not really a great medium for difficult debates.

~ I am going to the con and will have an awesome time.

I've already told the concom (well, some of them) how I feel about them, and that they have my support, but I really just wanted to tell you now how much I respect *you*, for so many reasons. I think you already know, but really, it should not go without saying. Especially right now. *hug*

I kind of ♥ you a LOT, just so's you know.

Thank you for everything you have done (and continue to do) for this little con of ours. It's a big deal to a lot of us, and so are you.

I'm not in any way part of this discussion (even if I've been following it a bit), but...:
journaling is not really a great medium for difficult debates -- we all end up talking in pages and paragraphs instead of give-and-take, and we too often end up thinking more about fortifying our positions instead of meeting in the middle.

That is so very true. I often find it difficult to express my views here, because I feel like I have to tread so carefully that it becomes pointless. It's easy to forget that we're a big bunch of extremely different people, from all over the world. (Makes me think of how fellow Swede, Carl-Henric Svanberg from BP, used the words 'small people' because he most likely translated directly from what he'd say in Swedish. And in Swedish it wouldn't sound strange at all. His biggest mistake at that point, was over-estimating his proficieny in English.)
