[It's been a few days since Sophie was returned by the Malnosso and there's hardly any change in her condition. It's left Cheria feeling even more restless than she'd been during Sophie's kidnapping and she'd once again taken to wandering the village. Today, however, she ran into an unexpected little surprise and decided to take it home with her, ( Read more... )

A small grey cat? [This is pinging a little anxiety of Jack Sparrow's.] Lost and alone?

Ah, yes. ... I think it's a female. Do you know whose cat it is?

Nah, lass---but I've had kitten troubles of me own, lately.

[Hector was still recovering from his kidnapping ordeal.]

Are you looking after her? Feeding her plenty of kitten vittles?

[Kitten trouble of his own? She's about to question that when the topic of kitten food comes up.]

I'm afraid I don't have anything that's suitable for kittens in particular... Only a bit of leftover meat. Can kitten food be found in the store?

You haven't stocked up on it?!

[There is some foul grumbling on the other end of the journal. Then:]

Where are you? I've got a bag right here. Tell me!

I-I ah... House number 28, Sir!

Right! Give me thirty-five and a half minutes, then!

[And with that rather irritated order, Captain Jack Sparrow slams shut his journal.

In exactly thirty-five and one quarter minutes, there will be a knock at the door of House 28. Someone is on the porch, and he is surly. Also? He is holding an absolutely enormous 50-lb bag of cat food.]

Didn't even have the proper VITTLES.

[Cheria was already rather surprised at Jack's tone of voice, but when she opens the door thirty-six minutes later to see him standing there with such a large bag of cat food, her mind is blown.]

... G-good afternoon, sir. I ah... I assume you are here to deliver food for the kitten?

Aye---this? [He sets the bag down with a rather forbidding thump.] This is for the tiny kittykins. Is she alright? Not...not shivering and lonesome?

[Good grief, that bag is enough to feed five tiny kittykins until they reach adulthood.]

She seems to be doing a lot better now that she's eaten a bit of meat, but I'm sure the kitten food will be a great help as well. ...If you would like, you may come inside and see for yourself.

Darling-----are you really inviting me into your home?

... Well, it's the least I can do after you went through the trouble to bring all this cat food!

[And while Jack does seem like a rather suspicious person, she is rather hoping he will be gentlemanly enough to carry the bag all the way into the kitchen. Plus, her housemates are home. They're... around... somewhere.]

[So the bag gets hefted onto the pirate's shoulder once more.] You just tell me where to go, Mistress, and I'll finish off my troubles.

It's right this way! [She'll lead Jack into the kitchen, then. The kitten is sitting underneath one of the chairs, still pawing at the piece of lint that Cheria found. She'll get proper cat toys later, of course.]

[The bag gets set down much more gently this time, in a corner. Jack doesn't want to frighten the little thing. And it just so happens that his entire head is sort of a cat toy.]

Oh! Hallo, little bit. Hallo kittycat.

[Jack's head is indeed quite the toy. For a moment, the kitten is completely mesmerized by all the gently swaying dreadlocks and knick knacks. Cheria watches them both with a smile. This man may seem a bit intimidating, but he certainly seems to care much for cats.]

What do you think? She'll make a full recovery after eating a bit more, won't she?
