Only 22 hours to go! Well, the official launch of
Vanguard is on 30, January. But if you got the pre-order box, they let you into the official servers four days early. ^___^
I've been in the beta since the beginning of December and I'm totally hooked. Although I must admit that in this time I've grown biased because of the wonderful community at
Vanguard Roleplayers and the way the devs communicate with the beta people. It's intoxicating. The first time I was chatting with a dev in a msn-chat I was omg-omg-omg-omg-spaz-starry-eyed. I'm a fangirl, I'm biased, I admit it freely.
I decided to concentrate in giving feedback about the lore -- and very soon after that I tried diplomacy and became a diplomacy-junkie. @.@ I've played through almost all of the diplomacy newbie lines and the only beta forum I was hanging out on was the diplomacy one. And seriously, you reported a bug, the devs fixed it and asked if it works now. I commented that 'if Guard Trackle is leading these other guards, he should be promoted!' and now he's Sergeant Trackle. I waved at him every time I ran past him. ^__^ Oh, and in one of the lines a raki mentioned that he teleported into the halfling village and I just had to squee on the beta board that 'I demaaaand a change in this text: surely they offered him pie?' and it should be in now. A line where you poison a npc was changed so that you don't know it's poison after people feedbacked that there's gullibility and then simply things you don't do. And so forth and so forth... I never even dreamt a dev team could be cooperating with the beta testers so much and so thoroughly. It really makes you horribly biased and makes you feel you're not just a customer, it's now your game too and you want to nourish and pet it.
One of my first posts to the beta boards was about the goblin lore, after which the administrator of the Vanguard Roleplayers board asked if I'd want to write some lore-things for the board, and you know me... once a lorekeeper, always a lorekeeper. Now I'm a community team member and thrilled to find such a receptive audience for my lore ramblings. ^__^
And no, I didn't test adventuring further than level nine, I was too busy digging up lore and boggling at the racial diversity. From what little I saw, I enjoyed it immensely. So no, I can't tell anyone if they'd like the game or not since MMORPG players are so very different in what they want from a game, but I can tell you that I'm hooked.
