Shopping for a SUV has proven much more difficult than it was for buying a car. Finding one in a lower price range (which is still very high, overall!), with lower miles and reliability is ridiculously hard. And the banks are being picky about which ones they'll finance. This is due to one, if not two factors: we don't make gobs of money and/or the vehicles have too many miles. We have excellent credit so I know that is not the problem.
Prospects turned down so far:
Hyundai Santa Fe, $12,282 - just too expensive to finance
Toyota Highlander, $12,900 - too many miles, too old, too expensive
New prospect:
Mitsubishi Outlander, $10,900 - really low miles, year 2006, but it is manual... I could learn
