I've been watching videos and looking at videos from the St. Gallen production of Dracula, the Musical (which is, sadly, closed now, and has been for quite some time, though I believe there is going to be another production somewhere in Europe). I do really like this musical despite its (often quite obvious) failings, though I prefer the Broadway production to what I've seen of the St. Gallen production, partly because I do not like the 50's costumes. The singing, though, from what I've seen of the St. Gallen production, is quite good, including Drew Sarich's Dracula, evne though it's a bit odd.

One thing from the St. Gallen production that I find interesting is the fact that there are many, many vampire brides, and other Fledglings of Dracula's who are male, as well. This makes the show completely different, as certainly it's a routine event to Change two or three humans when you have that many Fledglings. It's an intereting angle, and I am tempted to write stories based around it, but it doesn't really work with the entire premise of the musical, with Mina being Dracula's "chosen one", and him being so unable to kill her that he asks her to kill him. They also look...rather ridiculous. Just stick with the three vampire brides, I'd advise.

I still maintain that Dracula shouldn't have closed on Broadway so quickly. In my opinion, it's better than half the stuff playing these days.
