On the list of words I don't like is the term, "trope."  My main reason for not liking this word is its implicit "member status."  Using the word makes you part of the technical 3lit3 in the English department.  I admit that the term, when carefully applied, is useful in discussing phrases and and elements that pop up over und over again- [...] but ( Read more... )
