More Avengers Squeeage...
...now with more Whedon!
Just heard that Joss Whedon is on board to write and direct Avengers 2, as part of a deal with Disney/Marvel that includes development of a Marvel-based television series for ABC. The volume of fansquee over this on Twitter is pretty impressive, and I've gotta agree. He did such a fabulous job with The Avengers, I'd love to see him take the story further on.
Whedon's got a number of projects in various stages of production - his take on Much Ado About Nothing, filmed over 12 days in the interstices of The Avengers and featuring Alexis Denisoff, Amy Acker and a host of Whedon alums, is slated to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Wish like hell I had the money to go. The other project is a sequel to Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, which was supposed to be filming sometime this summer. No idea if they've kept to that schedule, or how it will eventually be released, but I'll be keeping an eye out for general releases of both of these.
