Has anyone here seen the tv program Alphas, on Syfy? It looks like it only ran for 2 seasons, ending last year. I'm only through episode 4 at this point, but I was surprised not only to find one of the main characters was autistic (I usually try to stay pretty on top of portrayal of ASDs on TV), but the whole premise of differently-abled humans and how society reacts to them to hit extremely close to home. They're even using terms like neurodiversity, referring to these "Alphas" rather than to Aspies/Auties.
As I said, I haven't seen a lot of it yet, so I'd appreciate if you have that you not give away any major spoilers! (you can put them behind an [Spoiler (click to open)] tag if you'd like to talk to fellow fans) But I'm curious if others felt similarly upon seeing this show, and wanted to spread the word to those who had not seen it but may be interested. I feel like I'll probably have more intelligent/complex thoughts about this as I see more... or at the very least after getting a good night's sleep :P
