Does anyone else use self-injury when very upset?
Today I was supposed to carpool with a friend of mine as we both work at the same place and live around the corner from each other. He'd been out sick yesterday and I don't usually carpool with him on Tuesdays but today was different as my evening plans had changed. He was late coming, and I was afraid if I called him to ask if he'd remembered that we were carpooling, he might get mad. So, I went in my car and texted him.
He texted me back that he had been running late, but it was ok. We realized we were only a few cars apart in the line at the stoplight. I'd really needed to talk to him today about something, and even though we'll be carpooling again tomorrow, I got very upset with myself for not waiting a few minutes longer for him.
When I get that upset, what I do is punch something very hard or bang my hand/knuckles against something hard. In the car, it was the steering wheel. It hurts a lot and over the summer I ended up breaking my hand. I don't know why I do it only that it makes me feel better and I don't mind the pain for the next few days or the bruising.
Does anyone else do this or am I seriously crazy?
