Vacation and Dedication

Mar 13, 2009 09:48

This work week actually went relatively quickly and productively, which I am suprised about. Because I only worked three days last week due to the storm on Monday and my test on Friday I thought the week would drag. I am getting really excited about my vacation to Virigina Beach to see my family, except I have no money! I needed (ok wanted) to buy a new cell phone, but I was not due for an upgrade so I had to buy whatever I wanted at retail price....$500 later, oops. I guess I will be making big payments to my credit card to pay that off. I always feel guilty about making big purchases and of course Jon always says "You only live once". I consider myself a pretty responsible person so I can't always just go out and splurge, but I did. And I am kind of glad I did. Haha.. :)

Anyway, other exciting news is that the library that my grandmother used to work at is dedicating a plaque in her name at the end of next month. She passed away June 2007 so it will be nice, as her family to accept it on her behalf.  I went there last fall with my cousin and it was so bizarre to be in there and have her office filled with someone else's stuff. It almost felt like she had been forgotten about and she was the director of that library for over 30 years. I understand that everyone has to move on with their lives after someone dies, but she put a lot of sweat and tears into that library and worked tirelessly to get it rebuilt and just right. To top it all off she only had a few years to enjoy it. But anyway, it really is the icing on the cake for us to have that done for her. She was a big part of that library and the town. Honestly, I hope my name is remembered like hers after I die. I miss her. <3
