hey dudes!!!
japan is crazy, im sitting in a huge apple store in GINZA at the moment where they have a room full of imacs with free internet, this place is like 6 stories and the building looks soo cool, pretty much every cool thing in the world has its own awsome building in GINZA dedicated to it (sony, CK, BMW, apple, dior, Honda, Tiffany etc. etc. )
the trip has started very well
right now japan is looking like it will be my best trip yet
tokyo is such an amazing place
and from the top of ROPPONGI tower you can see that it is one of the biggest buildings in the world. it is a huge city which goes in every direction as far as the eye can say
my freind shiro who i met up with he says that there is no country side between tokyo and the surrounding citys.
tokyo is my favorite city so far i think!
anyways about the trip so far;
i have been soo many crazy places that i wont describe each day in great depth, just dot points (this post is already taking too long to by typed)
--districts visited in great depth--
- shinjuku -- generaly the buisyest streets in tokyo, with 3 million people passing through the tiny arcades every day there is not an intresting 10 centermeters, the home of sensory overload and eppilepsy attacks, totaly the most wild place in the world (for me), has alot of the big skycrapers, including the lost in translation hotel
- shibuya -- shabuya station is the times square of tokyo, a huge crossing where several gigantic tv screens (building size) display popular culture (zebra crossing scene in lost in translation)2 million people cross this road from the station every hour, it is litterd with awsome shopping and clubs (classyer than shijuku)
- roppongi- roppongi hills -- another huge shopping area but more well known for its night life, lts of all you can drink clubs (yes... all you can drink) and sleezy "love hotels", roppongi hills is a large complex which has the tallest building in tokya, a huge mueseum, lookout and art gallery on the top floor (home of a cool android built by honda which walks around getting your attention)
- ginza -- classyest place in tokyo, very upmarket shopping and eating, plus a lot of huge brand buildings, unbelivably classy and buetifull but rediculously expencive, (¥3000 strawberrys $A40)
- harajuku -- home of tokyos busyest street, there are times you cant actually move, full of designer and street ware, very good for shopping (if you can fit in the shops (amazing experiance though))
- akihabra -- around 2 years into the future technowlagy wise. mobile phones with 2 megapixel camera, gps, tv, mp3, and very fast internet... huge screens and cheep rates.. there insane.... awsome laptops and insane mp3 players built by olympus which are soo cool!!!!! (not for sale yet) (not as cool as my ipod though fuckers)
- ive been heaps of other placves but they stand out and im sick of this
--food--
nothing is expencive as people say, or atleast there is not such a differance between cheep food and exy food (taste wise)
japanese food (minus brekfast) is almost certanly my favorite kind of food, im so suprised we dont have ramen, okonimyaka, tempura and udon places all over the place like we have sushi.. by the way, i like sushi world and that stuff in canberra, but it's korean SHIT compared to what they have here (much cheeper, freasher, varied, and tastyer, though less meat and more raw fish.)
the food is amazing and probably one of the best parts of my trip so far, it is really differant and the flavours are like no other in australia
-coffee--
crap,
it only became popular 2 years ago (when starbucks was introduces)
it is
-boiling hot, (often instant, or atleast is machine made (sitting around for a long time) )
-cream instead of milk, sounds good but is gross
-often a clear syyrup instead of sugar which is discusting
-night life--
ive only been out once, and i probably wont be going out again because kyoto isnt as big on nightlife and im not with shiro any more but it was the crazyest night of my life..
we started at 10, and i caught the first train home in the morning at 5
we pretty much went around three clubs,
-BAR, ISN'T it?-- huge dancefloor playing mostly hip hop with a ¥1000 (YEN) which included one free drink
-THE LEX (i think i dont really remember) -- crazest thing ever... ALL YOU CAN DRINK!!! (seriously) , a decent dance floor and you could come and go as you please untill 10 in the morning, i had.... a lot to drink here, it was free... mostly black russians (thanks paul) and screw drivers, and one or two crazy drinks that a german girl called claudia got me... it played room and some chart topping stuff
-VANILA-- the classy one, it was four clubs in one, connected by a nice lounge, each one was a differant kind of music, with really good djs, the door was 1000 yen with two free drinks and a girl walked round giving out free shots (i know)
here i made freinds with about 600 japanese dudes and girls and there was an awsome song which at random times went "hi! hi! hi! hi!"(yes yes yes yes) which i invented a dance move which i had about 2000 people doing for a second..
the train trip home was a blast just because i required alot of assistance and the seats whree so comfy,
the trains are sooooooo good, they come like every three minutes and theres soooo man you can get anyware, ive been buying 1000 yen tickets and just going all over the place, there pretty freaking busy though, you never miss a train...; they will help push you in to the more crowded ones... its not often uncomfertable though
its even busy at 5 in the morning
japan is dence
thats about all
im going to the fish markets tomorro, zooming around all my favorite spots, meeting up with my dad and buying you all some presents tomorro!.... the important ones anyways...
we go onto kyoto on wensday with a few days in nagoya, plus some day trips through osaka and a theme park call spa land... im also hoping to go to one of those cool artificial beeches which have synthetic sand and huge tropical back drops
miss you all very much (not that much though) ... sept clare (im killing for some clare right now)
