How do you feel about someone using the word "niggardly", assuming the context is correct?

Do you think it is likely to be misconstrued as racist or would enough people grasp that it's has nothing to do with race?

I think it is likely to be misconstrued as racist by people who aren't aware of the word. I mean, it's like the racist White lady who started the whole "Don't Re-Nig 2012" campaign despite the fact that there is nothing to fit in that sentence other than the N-word, and the word she was thinking of, "renege" is spelled n-e-g and also means the opposite of what she was trying to say.

Not to mention the myth that "nigger" means ignorant. It does not.

All that said, I wouldn't mind someone using "niggardly" because I know what the word means and its etymology. Will there be some idiots out there who think you mean the N-word? Probably.

I actually take back what I said about calling people idiots for thinking you meant something racist. It's not a word you hear everyday, and there will obviously be people out there who just haven't heard it. It might send alarm bells their way.

The idiot scenario I was thinking of was someone thinking that "niggardly" and the N-word having the same etymology and thinking that it was completely okay to call someone the N-word because of it.
