Serious question

What's the worst thing you've ever eaten?

Be sure to explain why it was so horrible. This is my entry. A guy I studied with in Japan later went to South Korea for a year and he thinks dog is DEE-LISH as a result. I was talking to him about this on Facebook.

"Okay, when I tried dog, it was at a Chinese-owned Korean restaurant. They had a section on the menu that had this heading: '中韩料理' and none of the stuff we did order tasted good to me at all. Everyone loved it though, so I didn't complain. But yeah, the dog tasted the way a dirty, wet dog smells. But even if you could lead me to a 'great' dog restaurant, I'd decline your invitation because I can't cope with the concept of eating a dog. I felt guilty after I ate a few pieces. And then recently, I had a student tell me about how dogs are sometimes killed for food. When she was young, she lived next door to a restaurant that raised dogs and served them. One day, she saw one get killed. They hold their mouths shut and pour boiling water into their noses until they die because it roasts them from the inside and makes their fur melt off. I nearly puked when I heard this. I feel bad about eating pork because I've seen pigs get killed en masse. They're intelligent animals and they know that they're in what is basically a concentration camp and they're terrified. You can see and hear it. But suddenly, they're dead. Yes, there's terror, but there usually isn't pain. In contrast, it seems like the dogs that get eaten in Asia die horrible, agonizing deaths. I don't see how people can sit there and eat that meat while a) remembering how intelligent and charming dogs can be and b) how horribly they die so that you can eat them. I just can't relate."

And I am trying REALLY FUCKING HARD to understand this part of the world. But I have my limits. I went over this with a good British friend a few months ago and we're both like, Yeah, their turf, etcetera...BUT I CAN'T TOLERATE EVERYTHING!
