2 weeks down...
I can't believe I'm getting ready to start the third week of camp this week- yikes it is going fast! This past week we had 5th and 6th graders...interesting age group. Much more fun than the third and fourth graders, but not as mature as junior high. Getting them to talk about anything spiritual was like pulling teeth. But overall I had a pretty good group of girls in my cabin and I also had a junior counselor helping me and she'll be with me for the next few weeks, so that is really nice.
Fun stories from the past week-
1. Our camp bought mini-bikes (little motorcycles basically) and got insured so we can ride them! They are sooooo much fun and I think the counselors have more fun on them than the campers!
2. Encounter with tarantula-sized wolf spider outside our cabin's front door one night. I stepped on it (gross beyond all reason) and then swore the one camper who witnessed it to secrecy so as not to frighten the rest of the cabin.
3. After our annual Hanta/Disasters game thursday night, we sent the campers to bed, climbed the fence to the pool, and jumped in for a little night swim...fully clothed! It was fun. I went off the high dive for the first time at camp. Attained minor injuries from climbing back over the fence.
Last night I went to this pizza buffet/arcade place with a bunch of girlfriends from highschool. We had a blast and it was good to catch up with old friends. Tomorrow is our first junior high camp- I'm so pumped! I know I'll have some of the same girls from last year and they will be so much fun. Added bonus- we get to play real paintball games with them! Life is good. God is everything I need.
