~ Went to the My Darkest Day/Seether/Bush/Nickelback show last night. I originally planned not to go, because I think Nickelback are capital D douchebreaux, but then I realized that Bush and Seether were opening for them, and b/c of Houston's weird promoter situation, that meant that I wouldn't get to see GRossdale or Dale Stewart et al again for a ( Read more... )

I wish the Devils could have managed to win at least one of their home games. :(

Also, I am amused that I don't even read LJ for months and months because I'm all wrapped up in hockey and making friends with other hockey fans elsewhere, and when I return to check in here, it turns out everyone's gone and gotten themselves into hockey! :D

I have been into the Devils for years (and college hockey, but that's super hard to follow in terms of viewing if you live in a sunbelt state), I just wasn't super LJ-fannish about it. I guess b/c most of the LJ squee that I see peripherally has been about the Blackhawks with a side of Canes. I am all about Marty Brodeur, though, have been since he was a rookie goalie and I was freshman in college. (We are both old, OMG.)

I'm sort of hoping that the fact that some years they are actually better on the road than at home will work to their advantage. Mostly I really really DNW a four-game sweep. :(

Fortunately, NBCSN is showing college hockey every week during the season! Many of the games called by Voice of the Capitals John Walton, which is pretty cool. :)

It is hilarious to me how the media keeps going on and on about how old he is. He turned 40 during the Flyers series FOR GOD'S SAKE!!! ;)

I happened to be in New Jersey when the Devils won their first ever Stanley Cup in 93 or 94 (sorry, can't recall the exact year), which I thought was pretty cool, and then I was riveted to their Cup run in 2000. They are the least objectionable of the former Patrick Division teams to me. ;)

They will not get swept! I decree it!

I get that that is not old in relative terms, but for a professional athlete, it's... not a spring chicken. Especially when I see dudes like Jeff Skinner and Adam Henrique, who are babies, seriously, are they even shaving yet?

I think it was 95? Oh, the Scott Stevens years. No one in my family was really into hockey, so I didn't watch it until I went to college, and somehow I fell in with some people from Jersey, who inducted me into Devils fandom, and that was the end.

Is it wrong of me to hope that, after two OT losses in a row, Deboer will put Sykora back in the lineup? He's the reason I'm cheering for the Devils this year, and he's known for scoring clutch OT goals in the playoffs.

I vote strongly for ANYTHING that will give them a push. Seriously, anything.
