Don't care what the truth is.

We're celebrating my Por Por's 80th birthday this Sunday with a rather big soiree. The grandchildren will be on drinks duty (haven't decided if this is a good idea or not) and it will be the first time my cousins and I will be all together for the first time in about a decade I think. As usual almost all my family are wearing uniform black, though my Mum and brother are -shock horror- going against the grain with a little colour. I'm quite stoked with the new shirt I bought for the occasion, it's like a modern cowboy shirt with a little gold star stitched on the right cuff. So awesome it hurts.

I am already anticipating conversations with old Chinese people I supposedly know, which will all probably go: are you finished studying yet? are you working? are you married? bought a house yet? are you Christopher or Leighton?

Did anyone catch C4's U Choose 40 Power Ballads last night? Some of the selections were questionable (Metallica's One is hardly a ballad by any stretch of the imagination), though I was very delighted to see Total Eclipse of the Heart make the list at #12 because it is the best song ever and in time people will see how genius it is. November Rain took the top spot, forcing Bohemian Rhapsody into the runner up position.

Anyway...after some great thought, here is my belated top 10 festival films list:

1. The Science of Sleep
2. Brick
3. Thank You for Smoking
4. C.R.A.Z.Y
5. Sympathy for Lady Vengeance
6. Who's Camus Anyway?
7. The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang
8. What We Do In The Shadows: Interviews with Some Vampires
9. Drawing Restraint 9
10. Three Times

Honorable mentions: Bubble, Waves, This Film is Not Yet Rated, Wah-Wah, The Host.
