Happy birthday to Megu, bassist of the Japanese pop rock duo Zwei, who turns 29 today!!
Overview: A Japanese pop rock duo composed of two talented women: the bassist Megu and the vocalist Ayumu. Although the band has had very few releases and very little publication, they have been moderately successful, with their singles charting within the top 100 on the Oricon charts, and their debut album peaking at the 11th spot. Recently, they have been very inactive. They have released two albums and seven singles.
Latest News/Releases: Zwei’s last release was last June…and there isn’t any sign of another release on their official website. I don’t have much hope for one. D: They are performing live, though, which is a good sign. They performed at Ebisu in March and will appear again in July for the “TRIANGLE FISCHER 007” rock festival.
Full Profile My Opinion: I’m so disappointed that Zwei hasn’t been very active at all lately. They are such a good duo! Well, I’m not entirely sure about Megu’s bass skills, because I’m not very good at picking up on that kind of thing. But Ayumu’s vocals are really great! I mean, they’re kind of standard of a typical Japanese female’s voice, but she has so much more power and skill in her voice that she can really belt it out. It impresses me! I haven’t heard a song from these two that I didn’t like. They need to get out there and make more music!

DISTANCE: This is their latest single, which was unfortunately, released last June. First I would like to say that Megu’s hairstyle is hideous. That said, I rather like this song. It’s very heartfelt and kind of powerful. I kind of feel like maybe the melody is a tad generic, but I think the two did a good job with it and made it sound good in their own style, especially with Ayumu’s vocals. I like this song. The PV is a little bit boring but kind of cute at the same time. Do try it out. =]
