Happy birthday to Japanese hip-hop artist AI, who turns 26 today!!
AI, whose real name is AI Carina Uemura, is a Japanese-American-Italian singer. Having switched between Los Angeles and Kagoshima, Japan during her childhood because of her father's work, she moved to Los Angeles on her own to be trained as a professional performer, and in 1999, at the age of 17, she performed as a dancer for Janet Jackson's promo video "GO DEEP". She then moved to Japan and one year later signed under BMG Records, releasing 3 singles and 1 album. In 2003 she switched to Def Jam Japan, to be the first female artist to have a contract with that company.

AI is one of those artists that I have mixed opinions about. Some of her songs I like, some of them I don't. Sometimes I like some songs, sometimes I don't like others. She has a decent voice: she can hit some notes and hold them, but sometimes the songs she sings don't exactly suit her very well. I'll let you decide how you like her.
I'll Remember You
This song came out while I was in Japan, and I saw her perform it on Music Station or one of those music shows. It's a pretty nice song, and I think it suits her voice quite well. For some reason I like this song sticks with me. I don't really know why. o_O

This is a really nice ballad by AI. It's got a great melody and well-suited to her voice, plus she sings it very well. The music video is quite sweet too. I really like to listen to this song, though it reminds me a lot of another song I've heard somewhere. I just can't figure out what song that is!

This is a more upbeat hi-hop song. Well not upbeat per se but it has a faster tempo than the first two and it's more dance-y and just more. It's also quite a good song though I must admit I prefer the other songs, I think cuz they just sound nicer.
