Happy birthday to Hiroto, guitarist of the Jrock band alice nine., who turns 23 today!!
alice nine. is a Japanese rock band formed in April 2004 after the breakup of the band Givuss, when the vocalist Shou and guitarist Tora of the former band recruited the guitarist Hiroto, the bassist Saga, and the drummer Nao to form the new band. The band quickly obtained a record label under the company King Records, and performed their first concert on May 11.
Shortly afterwards, they participated in a PS Company tour entitled “PS Company Presents: Tribal Arivall vol. 81” along with other famous artists like bis, Miyavi, Ayabie, Kagrra, and Kra. Performing among the most popular Jrock groups of Japan allowed them to gain recognition from rock fans all over the country, and when the band released their first single Namae wa, Imadanai in July, only 1000 copies were printed, and it was sold out in the preorder period. In August they released a second print of 3000 copies, which also sold out quickly.
After touring with Ayabie during the release of their first single, the band embarked on their first solo tour that progressed throughout the month of August. The next month, they switched labels to PS Company, and their first mini-album, Gion Shousha ga Kane no Naru in November. It was also a limited production, but sold well enough to achieve the #3 spot on the Oricon Indie charts.
The band concluded the year with multiple performances, including a tour with label-mate Karen, and then spent the first several months of 2004 touring and performing, and in April the band opened for Kagrra during their 2004 tour. During this time, they released three more singles, Gin no Tsuki Kuroi Hoshi, Yami ni Chiru Sakura, and Yuri wa Aoku Saite.
In June they toured with label-mate Ayabie again, and at the conclusion of that tour they participated in the PS Company tour of 2005. They also released their second mini-album, ALICE IN WONDEЯLAND on July 27th.
Having been extremely busy for the first half of the year, the band took a two month break in August and September, performing only once in two months. The band returned to their busy schedule in October, participating in various tours with fellow PS Company bands. They released their third mini-album, Kasou Musou Shi in November, which was a joint release between PS Company and King Records, to which they were now jointly signed. In December, their official fanclub opened.
They launched 2006 by releasing their first live DVD in mid-January. In late January and February they released three new singles: Kowloon ~NINE HEADS RADIO SHOW~, Akatuski / Ikuoku no Chandelier, and FANTASY. The songs “Akatsuki” and “Ikuoku no Chandelier” were used as themes for the anime Meine Liebe, increasing their fan-base extensively. In April, after two years, the band released their long-awaited first album, Zekkeishoku. This album was very successful, achieving the #4 spot on the Oricon charts.
The band took a short break in the following months, but they did release a DVD containing live as well behind-the-scenes footage. In October, they returned to release the internet-only single BLUE PLANET, and they spend the rest of the year touring and performing.
2007 started off in March for the band, when they released another single, JEWELS. The band had their first international venue when they performed at Jrock Revolution in Los Angeles in May. They returned to Japan promptly to release their single WHITE PRATER in June, and then TSUBASA in October. TSUBASA peaked at the #6 spot on the Oricon charts, making it one of their most successful singles.
Alpha, alice nine.’s second full album, was released in November 2007, and it also achieved great success, hitting, again, the #6 spot on the charts. The band embarked on another tour in January, but complications occurred after Tora suffered from a critical spinal disc hernia. Some concert dates were postponed, but Tora recovered slightly, and wanted to continue the tour, so it was resumed.
Their single Mirror Ball was releasedin March 2008, and was the theme of the movie adaptation of the anime Aquarian Age. Mirror Ball also ranked sixth on the Oricon charts.
In July the band will release two DVDs containing collections of their PVs from “Gin no Tsuki Kuro Hoshi” to “Eraser ~Memoire d’Une Fleure~”, a song from their latest single. It will also include a new PV of the song “Gekkouyoku”, which was included in their “Dive Into the Sun” photobook, which was released in April 2007.

JaME alice nine. really is a great band. They have such a mature sound, clear and concise and awesome. xD; Like most PS Company bands. Yeah. xD; I dunno I’m kinda pressed for time so I don’t have much to say. Just watch the video. xD;
MIRROR BALL
This is such a typical arisu song. xD; Shou’s vocals are so distinctive. This song is pretty upbeat and full of sound, and it’s got pretty fast tempo as well. It’s a pretty good song. The video is kinda not extremely exciting, but it’s entertaining, I guess. Enjoy. =D
