The Boys
Onew(온유) (The Leader)
Onew (Onyu in hangul) is the leader of the group. He is often seen smiling during interviews and guestings, and even behind the scenes. He often tries to crack jokes but seems to fail, thus leading to getting teased by Jonghyun and Key. He seems to be closest to Jonghyun due to their almost inexistent age gap.
→ His real name is Lee Jinki (이진기).
→ He was born on 14 December 1989.
→ His nickname is Sundubu, one - because of his love for soft tofu, and two - because 'he could sit in a corner and remain unnoticed'. That's what he said in the Reality Show, at least.
→ He was recently featured in Lee Hyunji's mini album in the song Vanilla Love.
→ Jonghyun and Key mentioned something about Onyu keeping a still and serious atmosphere whenever they're in the car. They dubbed it as the Onew Condition. They teased him about it in the fifth episode of the Reality Show.
→ He has an absolutely dorky dance.
Jonghyun (종현) (Bling Bling)
Jonghyun is the group's lead singer. His voice is stunningly beautiful - he can go from a low note to a high one without much difficulty. He is a very bubbly person, yet seems to be very shy with women.
→ His real name is Kim Jonghyun (김종현).
→ He was born on 08 April 1990.
→ His nickname is Bling Bling.
→ He was featured in Zhang Li Yin's first Chinese album in the song 交错的 (Wrongly Given Love).
→ He sings even in his sleep. There was one time when Onyu heard him singing 누난 너무 예뻐 (Replay) in his sleep.
→ He has an older sister.
The JongYu (and the gif spam)
So, JongYu. Why the hell JongYu when there mainstream SHINee pairs are JongKey and OnKey? JongKey has the best friend dynamics, while OnKey has the mommy-daddy one. WHY?
Casting all my fangirl instincts and ways aside, I've always seen their friendship as something that's always there, but doesn't have to be explicitly shown. They're good friends, we can be sure about that. But really close friends? Ah, here's where the investigation comes in.
The first solid JongYu moment has got to be the time when they were caught by the cam talking to each other in the Elle Magazine Offshoot. It isn't quite clear what they're talking about, but the smile on Jonghyun's lips looks so sincere and comforting. But wait, there's more! The hand action. One of Onyu's first being-haptic moments. Too cute. hearts;
Perhaps it was because of guesting in radio shows often that they became really close. They once hosted on Channel V. Once, in Super Junior's Kiss the Radio, they sang Ne-Yo's Because of You. Needless to say, their voices blended perfectly (though Onyu only sang a few parts). They performed another duet - Brown Eyed Soul's 정말 사랑했을까 (Did We Really Love) - in Shindong's Shim Shim Tapa, and this is where they were able to effectively harmonize. Amazing rendition of the song, really. Here's one of their more recent duets - a cover of Soulstar's 잊을래 in 080926 Sukira.
On October 30, 2008, they performed on Mnet M!Countdown's Heroes Stage with the song 남자답게 (Like a Man), originally sung by Fly to the Sky. They made a cover of Soulstar's Tragedy in Super Junior's Kiss the Radio on June 05, 2009. Their first official duet, 잠꼬대 (Please, Don't Go), was released in their second mini album, Romeo.
Now, enough with all the duets. They have too many dorky moments, really. The best one has got to be this one from one of their Shim Shim Tapa appearances. Watch how they make each other look retarded. Not to mention adorably cute. AND SO SQUEE-able.

In conclusion, JongYu has the kind of dynamics wherein they don't have to always be there for each other because they know they have each other to turn to in times of need. They take care of each other in more ways than one, and know what's going on in each other's heads. Jonghyun always brags about Onyu. Jonghyun is easily amused by Onyu's silly antics; Onyu is willing to act all childish for Jonghyun. Now, how nice is that? Priceless. ♥
