I'm so irritated by the fact that Hollywood has to change and exploit history incorrectly.
For example, in From Hell, Mary Kelly escapes and some random French chick is killed. Um excuse me, but anyone who knows anything about Jack the Ripper knows that Mary Kelly was the most brutalized victim that showed the elevation of the killer's frenzy. How can they change something so imperative to the case?
Second example, in this Sweeney Todd crap, he is portrayed as a good man getting revenge for his family. BULL FUCKING SHIT. First of all, Sweeney Todd was of the lowest class in society in England at the time, he was arrested for stealing at 14 under his cutsman's apprenticeship and the judge had pity on him so he threw him in jail instead of having him hanged which was the usual punishment. When Todd was imprisoned, he became an apprentice of a barber. When he got out, he set up his own shop, whether or not it was on Fleet Street is unknown. He actually did make the chair that hurtles people into the basement and he actually did kill people and Mrs. Lovett did make the victims into her pies. Unfortunately, Sondheim as well as other writers and playwrights have taken Todd's story and romanticized it and made him into a hero which is fucking ridiculous. Sweeney Todd was a serial killer, there is no record that he was married, and he is getting revenge on the upper classes, not for his wife or whatever.
Also, the adaptation of the story that I'm reading has an introduction talking about the many adaptations and where his legend came from. Nowhere does it say or even imply that Sweeney Todd existed. All it says is that he is an urban legend, etc. Bull. Shit. He really existed.

Believe me people, I know my serial killer shit, don't fuck with it.
In other news, I miss you and that's not going to change.
