He walked in the hall, pep talking himself under his breath. Balance needed to be regained. Things had changed too much in too little time. Plus he really needed to get both Finn and Quinn of his back. He had been too cozy and chummy with Rachel these past few days, and people were starting to believe there was something going on between them, which made him want to vomit for obvious reasons. But people didn’t know better, Finn and quinn didn't know better, so they just felt that Glee was messing with the school system, making the jerk and the freak get along. He had to do something about it. He didn’t like it, but he had to. Hence the slushie in his hand. It felt icy against his hand, and for the first time, he pondered about the temperature shock Rachel must have felt each time he had tossed one in her face.

He shook his head a little, he couldn’t afford to start thinking about the damages he had inflicted. She was his sister but they were not friend. They were just companions. And balance needed to be regained. It was his new motto.

From afar, he could see that she was at her locker, talking to that Asian chick with a stutter. Tina, he remembered her name was, and then wondered why in Hell he was starting to remember the name of the Gleeks. He was not part of their clique. He was just in it for the ladies. Even if it hadn’t worked so well for him so far…

Anyway, Rachel had her back to him, and it felt weirdly better: she wouldn’t see him make his approach, she wouldn’t be able to give him the doe eyes before he did what he had to do. He felt like a coward a little. Who was he kidding? He felt like a huge coward. But he kept on walking, like a soldier assigned to a mission he despised.

Tina was watching him with a weird smile, and he thought that if she had been a cheerio, he would definitely have liked to tap that. The smile was wicked. And he liked his woman wicked. See Quinn for an example.

He shook his head again, and passed the golden couple, the aforementioned wicked woman and Finn. They tried to grab his attention but he had a job to do. Balance, he kept telling himself. He was doing this for balance.

He gulped a little painfully as he got closer and closer to Rachel, and he briefly wondered why the Asian chick kept on looking at him this way, why she wasn’t warning Rachel about him making his way with a weapon to her. When he was just two steps away from them, Tina’s eyes got wide and she screamed:

“Now!”

He barely had time to process the fact that she had talked when Rachel did a spin on herself with a determined look on her face too, her eyes a little apologetic yet mischievous. Before he understood what was going on, he felt something fucking cold spray on his face and torso, and Rachel turned again, grabbing Tina’s hand, screaming to her to run. The two girls started laughing their asses off as they sprinted the fastest they could away from him.

He felt frozen in place, and around him, he could see that people were as baffled. He rose the hand that was not holding the drink to his face and wiped away some of the liquid with disbelief.

“Dude!” Finn exclaimed, starting to laugh as he made his way to him. “I can’t believe she did that!”

Looking at the substance on his hand, Puck reflected that he, indeed could totally believe it. His sister had spunk, that couldn’t be denied. The wench had slushied him. And she had it planned in advance if she had enrolled her friend to stand guard and warn her when the timing was right.

He had a small smile, which most people thought was a bitter one or some kind of bad omen. Fuck balance, Puck thought, she may be a freak, but Rachel was the dignified sister of her brother he thought with satisfaction. He could see her laughing behind a door, throwing glances at him from afar and he mouthed clearly:

“You’ll pay for this.”

She just laughed more loudly and went away with her friend, bouncing a little from the trick she had played on him.
