A first draft:
The toxins are shivering hot through my veins
My blood is on fire, no mercy remains
They crawl up my skin; their footsteps leave stains
The fever's down deep in my bones.
There's throbbing and pounding, delirium's near
The poison is crackling; my vision's unclear
Shadows come dancing, lead visions appear
The fever's down deep in my bones.
Misery screeches, her voice unrefined
The venom's corroding and choking my mind
There's ice in my lungs and my breathing's confined
The fever's down deep in my bones.
A cough and a shudder, the bile breaks out
Past lips charred with torment and cracked from the drought
The demons are shrieking; I'm strangled in doubt
The fever's down deep in my bones.
