Tenth time is the charm

Jan 27, 2008 19:03

As if the nine flights I took over the past two weeks weren't enough, this morning I took up an invitation from a friend to take a spin around the area in a single engine prop plane. The breezy weather made the flight a little choppy, but still, buzzing around in a small plane was a blast! We took off from Blacksburg for a bit of sightseeing over the area. When we got out over Claytor lake, B let me try my hand at the controls for some basic straight-and-level flying and a few turns. He then took us through a stall (that was exciting -- like a going over a roller coaster without rails) and a touch-and-go landing at the NRV Airport before heading back. I look forward to going up again, and I expect Ill be talked into trying gliders when weather is more favorable in the spring.
