How is this news?

I really try to not be rant-y or anything, but some things really get on my nerves.  I understand the public's fascination with celebrities' lives, and how that has grown exponentially in the past 10 years, especially after the explosions caused by Facebook and Twitter.  I myself will never follow these people's "lives."  But I will respect what other people want to do, and if they want to vicariously live life through other people, that's fine.

What I am not okay with is watching the regular news, whether it be on CBS, NBC, or even CNN and having the celebrity bullshit infiltrate those news programs.  This whole bullshit with Kim Kardashian should NOT be a top story.  Things like that really disgust me.   Even more so, this "news story" broke when, a week ago?  Is it really necessary to continue to broadcast it over and over?  This morning, it was "breaking news" that they slept in separate beds at a hotel in New York.  It was also breaking news that Andy Rooney had died.  Andy Rooney was an icon, a man that I highly respected, despite controversy over the years.  For as long as I can remember, I have tuned into 60 Minutes on Sunday nights.  Andy Rooney brought something to journalism that no one else could have done.  To lump his passing with this Kardashian twit's fake marriage under the guise of "Breaking News" is appalling.

This is exactly what I have been trying to explain to people; the degradation of  society has more than happened.  While I'm not some crazy conservative or something like that, I still think people should stop and look around.  Look at what we've become over the past 20 years or so.  Even the 80s would be upset with the world today.  I'm kind of afraid for the future, to tell you the truth.

things i don't understand, politics, thinking about the past and future
