Mobile Broadband is NOT Cable Internet

Aug 18, 2009 05:33

My dad is always espousing that his mobile broadband card (which is plugged into a wireless router to supply internet to the house) is just as fast as cable internet, and I should cancel Comcast and get a mobile broadband card for my apartment. Well, here I am at my parents' house, and downloading a printer driver is now 13% complete with only 35 MINUTES to go.

If you know anything about speeds, just looking at descriptions of the two clearly shows that cable is immensely faster than mobile broadband, which I have been arguing with him about for over a year now, but he never believes me. Yet a driver takes only 30 seconds on my Comcast internet. I win. The sad thing is that his printer IS installed on my laptop, but not wirelessly, and I'm not allowed to go into the office to hook up my computer via USB, so here I am, feeling like I'm back on dial-up...
