Today, I'm in a good mood. 3 movies, 12 stars, and mostly pointless reviews.
71 - Freaks
November 6th, DVD
I was so surprised by how short this movie is, because in an hour, it manages to convey so much emotion, and with very few scenes describes a whole world.
Like the conjointed sisters story, which is only two scenes, or Joseph Josephine, in one (I think) and it adds to the main story to make this powerful movie.
I liked how the story progresses towards the very creepy climax scene, in the mud, under the rain. I can't get this out of my head, it was really haunting.
No wonder that movie has such a following.

72 - Ghost World
November 7th, DVD
I can't spell ghost.
Two friends growing after their graduation from high school. I really liked seeing the building of those two characters, the way their view about life changes them (or not), and the increasing feeling of loneliness, of not belonging around Enid. And I especially liked that her situation isn't resolved at the end. What was really great about this movie is how true everything sounded. I really liked this.
Steve Buscemi is very touching in the part of a middle-aged geek, even when his relationship with Enid turns creepy.
Scarlett Johansson is great two, she looks so young it's adorable, and her character was a nice counterpoint of Enid's. She's not really sure of what she will do with her life, but she tries and seems to manage quite well.

73 - In the mood for love
November 8th, DVD
I loved this movie so much I bought the DVD today.
The dresses, the settings, the cinematography, the music, everything was so beautiful. And the way the relationship grows between the two characters, slowly, with very few words, it was amazing.
I loved the contrast between the incredible dresses Maggie Cheung wears and the appartement hallway, and how some sequences kept coming back, in the stairs, the figure in a doorway... It gave the movie quite a dream-like mood for me, and I enjoyed it a lot.
I won't say more about it, but imagine this reviews goes on for ages with nothing but love for it. I had heard good things about it, but I wasn't expected THIS.
Now, I want to see My Blueberry Nights even more. And 2046. Is it as good as this one ?
