I have seen plenty of movies lately. Let's start talking about those three.
68 - Cassandra's Dream
October 31st, theaters
Most reviews I read go the same way I will : it's pretty good but it's not Match Point.
Problem is, both movies deal with similar subjects, in a similar fashion, making it impossible not to compare them. At least for me. And Match Point wins.
However, this one is pretty good. It has the dark humor I like, especially when Ewan's character tries to rationalize his acts and makes pretty much no sense. And I liked how the story unfolds, leading to the end that's not surprising (and doesn't try to be) and that I liked a lot.
The acting is the strongest point of the movie. Ewan's fantastic, but nobody will believe me. It was great to see him again in theaters. More surprising, I thought Syphillis man Colin Farrell was pretty good too. And both of them worked as brothers.

69 - Funny Face (Drôle de Frimousse)
November 4th, DVD (dubbed)
Although I liked most of the songs or dance numbers (especially Think Pink, anything by Fred Astaire, and Audrey Hepburn dance) I didn't care so much for this movie. It was too cliché, and even knowing it was done in 1957, the fact that girl has to choose between being beautiful and being smart annoys me. I'm very unconvinced by the romance part too, because it all seems too fast, and that's from someone who loves romantic comedies.
It's the first time I've seen a Fred Astaire movie, and I'm impressed. Not so much by Audrey Hepburn, who's as adorable as always here but doesn't have much to work with, character-wise.

70 - Stardust
November 5th, theaters (dubbed)
First thing first : I haven't read the book. Probably relevant to my review.
I really enjoyed this movie. A LOT. It was fun, and didn't take itself too seriously, had pretty costumes and scenery and mostly, really fun. There are plotholes in the story (I called the plot twist at the first second and I hope it's not that obvious in the book) but it was mainly well-paced and have I said enjoyable ? The characters are loveable and amusing, the action and romance are coming together quite well, and the actors are really nice in their parts (De Niro would get away with everything).
Worst thing in the movie : it suffers from the latest trend of TOTALLY USELESS VOICEOVER that I find really annoying. First and last scene don't add to the movie, and actually are incomplete, since they are about a letter and its answer, and you don't know what's in either.
Obviously, I LOVED Septimus. Not only I love ridiculous villians, and he was looking like Snape.
I totally missed Rupert Everett. Haven't recognized him at all (he's the second prince, the red one), but his entrance made me laugh a lot. It was so.... Charming.
I liked Michelle Pfieffer in two movies this year. I like how she makes fun of herself aging.
Loved that the guy gets the makeover in this.
