Writing and reading akame fic smex...

Jun 17, 2009 01:08

I just realized that I was suppose to write a smex sequel to my Push the Button fic. Actually, I did and I have posted it here. Only I kept it private because I intended to edit it. But I realize, writing smex is much difficult. I can only have the highest regards to those who are very good at writing it.

See, writing smex is difficult because it should be written in a way that it's graphic. I mean, a reader must be able to conjure the images. Choice of words is critical - nibbled, nipped or lightly bit? The act must be described in detail without it sounding mechanical, or heaven forbid, clinical. And like the act itself, reading smex should be a sensual experience. I have read smex that made me wince in pain ("That cannot, in anyway, feel good") and I'm not even referring to BDSM. Or made me feel like I'm reading an instruction manual (Get lube, stick one finger then another, move it a little here and there...). Reading smex ought to result to giddy smiles, curled toes or happy lovers or all of the above depending on the reader's physiological state.

So in conclusion, let me just mention three of my choices for best smex in an akame fic: "Consumer Electronics Show" by miyamiaki  (major nosebleed); "Off the Wire" and "See a Better Time" by
k_julia  & solo  (first time + awkward + weird = real; and real is HOT) and "Driven" and its sequel "The Distance to Here" by
shontos_garden . The last one made angst so beautiful I wanted to buy a cartload (especially if it meant hot smex).  These fics, I believe, contributed heavily to global warming.

So there...my thoughts...
