[The clock turns midnight, and all seems to be normal in the apartment of the two shinigami who sleep with their reiatsu tightly banked. But when Hitsugaya wakes up in the morning - far earlier than his lieutenant - he notices immediately that something is different. The reiatsu which is normally banked has changed - it no longer feels like his Lieutenant.]
[He reacts accordingly and quickly. His sword is nearly always beside him; he takes it in hand and rushes into her room, scowl in place and reiatsu coiling tightly. He's ready to lash out -- at first he sees nothing overtly wrong, but that's not enough to stop his headlong rush in defense of his Lieutenant.]
[She bolts upright in bed, one hand going to Haineko's hilt and knocking her journal ajar as she does so, her senses alert for any threat - no, none. Not even those monsters outside.] Where's the fire, Hitsugaya?
[Silence. Just for a moment, because his mouth is working and nothing is coming out.] ...What? Hitsugaya?
[It's at this point that she notices the journal was knocked opened, and as she reaches over to avoid giving Luceti more of a show than normal, the book picks up:] That is still your name isn't it? Maa, what time is it?
[Sometime later, a thoroughly disgusted
Captain Matsumoto Rangiku addresses the Luceti population at large.]
Has anyone else noticed that now that the sun has returned to normal, the people seem to have gone insane? Maybe the rain of monsters left something in the water...
...of course, if that's the case, the safest thing to drink is sake. Anyone up for a trip to the Good Spirits, if that's what the place is still called.
