Quick Update

I've been away from LJ for a bit, so I thought I'd post a short update before any more time goes by.

I'm enjoying school. The full-time class load is a bit of a shock to the system, but it's good. Also, I am enjoying all of the subjects I'm taking (even though I am feeling somewhat frustrated - more on that in a minute) and feel like I'm learning a lot. I could never decide whether I loved the sciences or the humanities more, and I've just ended up making peace with that fact, so I'm taking a balanced courseload of both. It means it'll take a little longer to accumulate the brownie badges for a bachelor's degree (since the degree system is based on specialization) but I'll get there. Meanwhile, Mondays and Wednesdays are History and Acting, Tuesdays and Thursdays are Linear Algebra and Modern Physics, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm never bored.

I'm feeling frustrated with Linear Algebra only because I feel like the course makes the subject enormously harder than it needs to be. The math itself isn't difficult - just reducing matrices by Gaussian elimination, which is basically grade-school math - but I find all the jargon bewildering.

Meanwhile, my right arm is recovering nicely. At seven weeks since the fracture I have a lot more use of it, and can raise my right hand a little bit above my head without much discomfort. Still got a ways to go but I'm no longer feeling like a cripple.

Mornings have been the hardest part. I'm one of those weird people who enjoy getting up early, and waking up with my arm in pain ruins my favorite time of the day. But the pain is slowly subsiding and I'm starting to feel normal again.

Best thing about school is getting out and meeting new people. Making some great friends in Acting class, and the teacher is phenomenal. But more on that another time - I've got to close now and get back to studying. Mid-terms next week, yikes!
