So, I guess it's time for an update.
We spent all of last weekend auditioning. Saturday, we auditioned for TARTUFFE (I will playing Mme. Pernelle and I'm STOKED!), Sunday, we auditioned for One Acts, and Monday, we auditioned for Barter. I had a great interview with Katy and now all I have to do is wait around to find out if I'll be going back in May for the 15 month playership. It is a possibility that two girls from last year are staying on for another 15 months, so there might only be one slot open for a female in the entire country, but I'm staying positive and just continuing to do my thing. She said I was on her "short list", so that's something to be happy about, for sure. Overall, a very good weekend :) Man, Katy Brown could run the country if she wanted to...you think I'm kidding. Her workshop was amazing and everyone here loved her and really want to work at Barter now. Bryan, Lauren, Donald, and I told everyone that it's pretty much the best theatre you could ever work at. And everyone just seemed to relaxed...it was sooooo nice.
Classes are going great. I'm taking a lot of dance classes and PHOTOGRAPHY which I LOVE!
Friends are great, as always. I'm seriously blessed. Rachel and I had a party on MLK day to celebrate the end of our audition marathon. Lots of people came over, we made dinner, drank a little (or maybe that was just me?), then played Catch Phrase and watched the snow fall :-)
Tuesday was one of the greatest days of my life thus far. I've never been so proud to be an American...actually, to be honest, I don't think I've EVER been proud to be an American. I couldn't stop crying and cheering for a good hour or two. It was...stunning. And what a handsome fellow! I want to be adopted by the Obamas. Is that possible? I know I'm 21, but I'll go willingly.
I saw Gran Torino and hated it. I thought the writing was horrible, the acting was horrible, and Clint Eastwood was overrated...am I the only one who thinks this?
I audition for graduate school in a week - WHAT!??! I fly out next Saturday for Chicago and brave the frozen tundra. It's gonna be awesome. I've never been to Chicago and I've clearly never auditioned for Grad School, so there you go. I have a private audition set up with the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training, which, if I go to graduate school, would be my dream school. I also have a private audition set up with Jack Young of the University of Houston. I'll let you all know how that goes.
I'm starting to see the timeline of my senior year and realize that there's really not that much time left...when I get back from Chicago, TARTUFFE rehearsals start up, then before I know it, it's time for SETC and more grad/professional auditions, then TARTUFFE opens and it's the end of April! WHOA. I'm getting ahead of myself and I just need to enjoy the rest of the semester.
Okay, well I need to clean, for real. So, I hope everyone's new year has started off in a rocking way and I'll talk to you soon!
